In preparation for this year’s Summer Alps trip, Paul Thistlethwaite has kindly made arrangements to hold a training day for anyone interested in going on the Alps trip this year. This training day is strongly recommended for everyone going to the Alps. Safety training is repeated each year by even the most experienced mountaineers and this workshop will enable you to do this refresher before you travel to save you having to do it when you arrive

The training day is booked for Sunday 6th July at BRE, Bucknalls Lane, Garston, Watford, WD25 9NH. Full directions can be found here http://www.bre.co.uk/directions.jsp

The training day will start at 9.30am and finish at 5pm. Please arrive early to ensure you are there for the start of the training. Please remeber to bring a packed lunch (no food shops near by)

The workshop will be based around the BMC Alpine Essentials training DVD and include plenty of team discussions, sharing of best practice from attendees, practical skills in roping up as a team and the vital crevasse rescue training. Self and peer assessment will form part fo the day along with a quiz or two.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR KIT TO THE TRAINING DAY INCLUDING HARNESS, ROPE, KRABS, SLINGS, BELAY DEVICE, GLOVES ETC TO PRACTICE CREVASSE RESCUE

Please contact Paul Thistlethwaite for further details of the training event
