HMC Membership

HMC Club Membership is open to everyone over the age of 18 years. The Membership year runs from 1st January - 31st December. Membership fees are set by the committee to ensure the club remains a viable non-profit making organisation.  The current fees can be found on the Membership Application Form. If a new member joins after the 1st July a reduced rate is payable, and towards the end of the year, membership for the following year is available at a pro-rata rate.

HMC membership entitles each person to a single vote at the HMC AGM,  BMC Affiliation,  Third Party BMC Insurance benefits, and reduced Snowdonia Centre Hut fees. For members with multiple BMC memberships, you can claim the excess membership money back from the BMC in November of each year.

HMC Membership Form

The HMC membership form is available for download, completion and printing.  The membership form contains the subscription amounts due for the membership year, January to December.  Members should add all their name, address, email address & contact details, including names & phone numbers of Next of Kin, in case there is an accident on one of the club events.

Subscriptions can be paid direct into the HMC bank account, either by ebanking or phone banking.  If this method is used, it is important to add a suitable reference, and also notify the Secretary / Treasurer of the payments made, the date & the amount.  Please ask the secretary for the account details.

Completed printed membership forms (for new members) should be sent to the address on the bottom of the form, together with the appropriate remittance.  Electronic notification of the completed membership application may also be sent by email to  Secretary@thehmc.co.uk    (Don't forget to include your name & address).

Please also read the Constitution of the HMC.

Change of HMC Member details

Details of current members (name, address, phone numbers, email address, next of Kin [for emergencies]) are held by the Secretary.  If any of your details change, please send the new / amended details to the  Secretary@thehmc.co.uk, by email, or by post to the Secretaries address on the membership form.

Organisation

The club is run by the Committee, consisting of Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and three Ordinary Members, each of whom holds office for up to two years following their AGM election.  The Committee may co-opt up to two club members a year.

Producing a valid HMC Membership card usually obtains a discount at many gear and outdoor shops.  We have an HMC account at Cotswolds which gives an additional contract discount.  See the Secretary for details of the Cotswold discount account number.

Acceptance

Following formal Membership acceptance, the Club welcomes members to any Tuesday evening, Indoor or Outdoor meet and hopes you find that the HMC is a warm and friendly base for your mountaineering pursuits.  Suggestions for future meet venues and ideas beneficial to the Club are welcomed by all Committee members.

An Important Note

1. While encouragement is given to beginners, in order to broaden their experience by walking or climbing alongside experienced Club Members, the Club, its Officers or Members do not provide formal training and therefore CANNOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS, INJURY OR ACCIDENT SUFFERED BY ANY MEMBER OR PROSPECTIVE MEMBER.

British Mountaineering Council
